History of the Temple

The first offering, that led to the establishment of this temple.

It has been for a long while…

my urge and higher calling, to dedicate art to the night. It is an offering, of sorts. A tribute for the ideas that have flown in the darkness, birthed by it. The stubborn energy of creativity, that comes alive, when all else is dead silent. Let us call this, for lack of a better name, Project Nocturne.

We have always felt unequal to this task. I refuse to believe that anymore.

Motivations

Approaching morning from the rear end is a beauty in and of itself. You witness the death of the day, the hidden revelries of the night, and play midwife to a new dawn.

I give thanks to the friend that inspired this utterance, and to the one who told me that she loved it, and how much more she’d like to see.

I must give credit also to Erin Morgenstern, whose masterpieces, The Night Circus and The Starless Sea have inspired me to create, and taught me how. Ma’am, your words paint the eyelids of dreamers the way wallpaper wraps the soul of a house.

Pens, Metaphorical

Let the pens of piece this be digital. The night wouldn’t be the safe haven it is for me, without technology. Let my laptop and my camera accompany me into the dark, and let them shine bright there.

I shall not let go of the camera; the shutter’s sounds have kept me awake, its motions have played paintbrush to the muse of my moods too often to be left behind. Every image you see here, every rasterized pixel, is captured by me. Each of them, past dusk. All of them, with love.*

Neocities

It has just now occured to me, of course, past midnight, that this is the perfect theme for a blog. On Neocities. This is hand-crafted HTML and CSS, chiseled with Vim.

Vim, on fire Penelope

* An exception, of course, is made for any stickers used, and the font, which is Indestructible Type’s Cooper* :D
